                                          March 22, 2012

Our last regular meeting was held on March 6, 2012, at the Benzie/Manistee Snowbirds clubhouse in Kaleva.  Our next meeting will be held on April 3, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. The next director’s meeting will be April 17, 2012.

The clubhouse building is progressing.  The electrical inspection is scheduled for this week.  We will continue with the finishing of the interior walls after this inspection is complete.  This has only been accomplished due to all the hard work of many club members.  A big thanks to everyone that has given so generously of their time.  A day for clean-up around the club grounds will be scheduled at the April meeting.

Again, a reminder of the Swap Meet to be held on March 31st from 9:00 a.m. to

3:00 p.m. at the Onekama Fairgrounds Pavillion.  Bring your old, new, and slightly abused sporting equipment to buy, sell or swap.  Informational booths from Whitetails, Ducks Unlimited, NW Turkey Federation, QDM management, Manistee/Benzie Snow Birds, DNRE and Bear Creek Watershed will be featured.  For additional information on the meet, contact Dave Somsel, 362-3103.  Our spring fundraiser raffle tickets are now available.  We need to get moving on selling this tickets.  They are available from Dave Somsel.  Tickets will also be sold at the Swap Meet and the Gun Show with the drawing being held at the end of the Gun Show. The Gun Show will be held on Sunday, April 1st, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Onekama Fairgrounds Pavillion.  Set-up for these activities is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30th.  If you are able to help sell refreshments, please contact Joe Barnett, 362-2536, to help on Saturday with the Swap Meet and Donna Rector, 477-5258, to help on Sunday with the Gun Show.  We will also need assistance for knock-down after Sunday’s activities.

The March Gun-a-Month raffle winner was Gary Miller of Lake City, MI, ticket #129.  We will be applying for raffle licenses for the 2012-13 Gun-a-Month raffle and our outside raffle in conjunction with our annual banquet.

Our next Hunter’s Safety Education class is scheduled for Friday July 27th from 7:00 –9:00 p.m. and August 4th and 5th from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Garry Johnson is the contact to sign up for this program.
