On August 28th 2010, 32 club members and 12 diehard non-members, or as we call them soon to be members, graciously donate their time for the good of the club.

Big Bear Sportsmans Club staffed and operated eight first aid stations for the North Country Trail Run that was held at the Big M Ski Lodge in Wellston, MI.

The North Country Trail Run is a marathon race that consisted of 700 runners from all across the United States. The race held three events; a 50 mile run, yep, I said a 50 mile run, a regular marathon of 26.2 miles, and a half marathon.

Our responsibilities were to man the aid stations, providing food, snacks, water, and Gatorade to the runners, as well as, keeping our eyes open for runners that may appear to be in distress.

This event raised $1200.00 for the club, the volunteers were all given t-shirts and provided with food and beverages.

The race team management was overwhelmed by our performance, as were the many grateful runners and have asked us back for next year, possibly fulfilling a larger as yet to be determined roll.

While the event lasted from 7:30am to 11:oopm when the final runner crossed the finish line, from the comments, a good time was had by all volunteers. Our shifts started at 12 noon and lasted until 9:00pm, with many of us sticking around to help cheer on the final runner.

Thanks again to all of our volunteers, not just the ones who helped with the race, but all of our volunteers who give of their time and skills to help provide the foundation necessary to advance the good of the club.
