"If You're A Freemason,
Don't Walk. Run To Pick This Up! "

To understand the secrets that are veiled within freemasonry, one must understand first what it is. The task of unveiling the freemasonry secrets is daunting to say the least. This society of individuals has been around longer than our forefathers were. Some people say that it has been around since the Egyptian pyramids, while others give it a more modest history, beginning in 1212 when European builders where held in high regard and started to build lodges to accept apprentices in their fold.
One author puts it out bluntly: that freemasonry is like a diamond with many facets. Several individuals will look in to the secrets without really understanding its deep purpose. Still, some will say that it is a religion that stems its virtues from moral principles. But freemasonry secrets are as stated earlier, as varied as the different facets of a diamond. Others will look at it in one way, while the rest will look at it in another way.
One of the most treasured freemasonry secrets is the use of symbols and allegory to convey its thoughts and ideas. Symbols are able to reach a wide audience where the written word has limited application. Through symbols, it is so easy to cross the language barrier and deliver a message with ease.
Take for instance the Masonic symbol of lamb. The lamb is a good representation of purity and innocence. The Masonic blazing star on the other hand is used to represent the following:
1. Prudence – the star leads us to the virtue of prudence which guide as to propriety.
2. The star of Bethlehem – the guiding star which led the magi to the location of the Child Jesus
3. Beauty – the rays of light that come from it shines on dark places giving hope.
4. The Sun – the life giving powers of the sun as it shines down on things below it.
5. Divine Providence – as the star shines down upon us.
Based on these items, you will notice that freemasonry secrets rely heavily on symbolism. While many will view it as an attempt, to conceal their knowledge, those who are inside consider it as precious methods of teaching their members the virtues and principles which will help them become better men in society.
All these freemasonry secrets are passed down through three symbolic degrees. The first degree is known as the entered apprentice. Under this degree, he is made to learn teachings through various building tools that are shown to him. The second degree is called the Fellow Craft. He is still to learn more concepts and teachings that freemasonry secrets hold dear.
There are catechisms taught which will be impressed upon him all throughout. The final degree is Master mason; more lessons and truths regarding freemasonry are taught in this level which culminates with a lecture on the various handsome rewards awaiting him if he remains true.
The catechisms are very important lessons that must be committed to memory as they prove to be useful in future dealings you might encounter as a freemason.
