My Travels to Traverse City

 

I have traveled to many places both here in the US and abroad and what seems to be the hardest part of planning my itinerary is finding a decent hotel or motel. It seems that I am either over promised with little delivered or have paid for far more service than I would even require in a hotel.

 

During a recent trip to Traverse City MI where my oldest and dearest friend had moved with her new husband, I happened upon this same dilemma. I was unable to stay with my friend since their new home was very small with a new baby and all, so I began to search for any local hotels in Traverse City which were close to her location.

 

Once I began to search for a Traverse City hotel, I was overwhelmed by the options available to me. Traverse City lies at the end of Grand Traverse Bay on the shores of Lake Michigan so it is just crawling with hotels and motels looking to offer views of their pristine beaches and convenient locations to the city itself.

 

As I did further research, I began to notice that most of the hotels in Traverse City MI were very similar, the standard in room coffee maker, pool, etc. I am a simple person and 110 channels and high speed internet are of little interest to me, so I looked further and tried to locate a motel or bed and breakfast which may have had more comfort by way of luxury bedding, my one true longing when traveling, and was willing to forgo the technology.

 

I did some more searching online, but it seemed as though my short notice would find me in a beachside Traverse City hotel afterall, sigh. I finally did end up choosing one with WiFi and, yes, an in room coffee maker, but I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort of my room so, I could not really complain and the views were just amazing. I had not considered a Traverse City vacation in the past, but the beauty made me sorry I had only set up to stay for three days.

 

I had a long visit with my friend and even conducted some business while I was in Traverse City which actually made the in room WiFi a handy option afterall. I even managed to take a long walk on the beach my last morning there. Overall it was an amazing, albeit short, adventure. I do plan to go back and vacation there sometime soon. It was a beautiful area which I would not normally have chosen if my friend had not moved there.

 

There are truly some beautiful hotels in Traverse City Michigan.  Maybe next time, I’ll send you a postcard.
